We assisted the Rockford Park District in relocation of their offices from Sinnissippi Park to the Old Rockford Post Office on South Main Street. 

The challenge of this project was providing numerous departments with convenient public access on the first floor.  Other challenges were the extremely high ceiling space and the design of a new ventilation cooling system that had to work with the existing heating system.

The new space included Customer Service areas, space for a new Human Resources, Accounting, Purchasing and Information Technology Departments.  It also included executive office space and a new boardroom.  The design of the space utilized the spatial aspects of the building.  This included maximizing the amount of available natural light from the large two-story windows. 

Our solutions included providing some cloud ceilings, angled walls and reopening of skylights that once provided a great deal of natural light into the interior of the space.
